In a healthcare of system of 80,000 people, how do you create an understanding of the Design Thinking method and a common vocabulary around problem solving?
Solution
Dr. Karen Tilstra, myself and the Innovation Lab adapted IDEO’s Crash Course to help teach methods to quickly generate, develop, and test new ideas. The Design Thinking: Crash Course (DT:CC) needed to be cheap, fast and easy to understand.
Method
Over the last 8 years, I have co-created at least 45 different variations of the DT:CC for use in classes, retreats and conventions. Working with each group, I taken feedback and notes from each experience to keep the booklet up to date and as effective as possible with personalized illustrations and layouts. The DT:CC is a popular offering of the Innovation Lab to give the simulated experience of innovation. This has given us the opportunity to make improved slide presentations, customized musical playlists and online experiences of the class.
