Hello, I'm Patrick O'Connor, an enthusiastic designer. Graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from Valencia College in Orlando Florida. I started working in identity branding before discovering a love for graphically facilitating solutions and stories.
I began providing graphic design support for the the Florida Hospital Innovation Lab (FHIL) in 2012 and came on full time as part of the facilitation team in 2017. Here I'm responsible for the creation of documents that we need to develop human-centered ideas and solutions for the healthcare system. During my time as part of the FHIL team, I've had the opportunity to immerse myself in the power of visual storytelling and techniques such as illustration, murals, tool iteration & development, rapid-prototyping, info-graphics, and animation. During and after design implementation we use the visuals to help evaluate whether the result has been successful - reflecting on what the future iteration should be.
From 2016 to 2017 I worked for Metropolis Graphics creating designs worn by fraternities and sororities nationwide, appealing to a wide range of tastes. As a designer I was responsible for original creations, edits and quality of prints with prompt turnaround times - actively participating in outstanding customer service and customized graphics.
From 2014 to 2016 I worked for the advertising sales department of Watermark Media to create designs and illustrations that appeared in their newspaper and online, updating the website as needed and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
From 2012 to 2014 I worked with Ivanhoe Village Promotions to generate promotional materials: including logos, flyers, web ads, posters, and maps for events such as Jingle Eve and Virginia Drive Live as well as neighborhood business events sponsored by the Ivanhoe Village Cooperative. This resulted in being awarded Orlando Main Street Volunteer of the Year in 2014.
From 2005 to 2013 I worked at Walt Disney World as an International Representative, focusing in Food and Beverage training. I was responsible for training over 300 Canadian servers in proper Disney restaurant practices and earned a certificate as an initiate sommelier with guidance by Master Sommelier John Blazon. I was recognized for memorable guest interactions in 2008 with the most guest letters and a nomination for Partners in Excellence in 2009.
